I listened to Andreas’ proposal and tried not to let my surprise or apprehension show.
He’d paid for my first class ticket to New Orleans because he needed my services—not here in the States, but I was to accompany him to Europe.
F*ck! What was it with the men in the South? At least Sebastiaan had asked for my help, but there was none of that with Andreas. He demanded my help, and it wasn’t exactly an offer I could refuse.
“You should know that when Lena first came back here to New Orleans, she pissed off a lot of powerful people. If her enemies were only mortals then I would have no cause to be concerned, but some supes were involved as well and you know our kind, Angelika. You’ve met and conversed with Sebastiaan. What do you think of him? It should go without saying I’m asking for your honest opinion and not what you think it is I want to hear.”
“He’s a gentleman…despite his dubious standing as the werewolf King of North America,” I began in a guarded fashion. “I never felt any concern for my safety while in his presence. In fact, I believed he would guard me with his life if he had to and that granted me a lot of comfort around him. I can’t help but think behind all his bravado he’s truly a decent person, even if he isn’t completely mortal.”
Andreas’ steel blue eyes glared at me before they softened. “Your sister is right. You truly can see people for who they are…and as you have made some very accurate observations about my half-brother, he’s going to be the one who takes care of Lena while we are away.”
I stood from my comfortable chaise lounge across from his desk. “Mr. Damgaard—”
“Andreas, please. No one calls me Mr. Damgaard except for the help, and in my business circles, I am known as Mr. von Wiesenheimer…my father’s human last name.”
“Are you saying Sebastiaan and you have the same father?”
He continued to stare at me as he sipped from a Baccarat glass filled with Hoodoo Hex. “Unfortunately. However, he slept with my mother ages before he got desperate enough to fuck a Lycan bitch, even if she is supposedly their royalty. I’m the older of us by a little over three hundred years. Sebastiaan is no spring chicken in human years but he is considered a young supernatural creature. Thanks to our Sidhe blood, he appears to be in his early twenties. He won’t age for a very long time to come.
“I should also tell you it is not uncommon for the Lycan to seek out the same mate as their sibling. It’s like a territorial pissing contest. Yes, I am aware that Sebastiaan has f*cked Lena but I have told him to treat her with the utmost respect and he will. I will do the same for you in turn, although I can see how attracted he is to you and the thought of you sharing your body with him…well, it is not a pleasant thought for me.”
“Neither is it for me.” I made myself another vodka over rocks before I sat down again across from him. “I didn’t mean to act childish and I hope you will forgive me. I should be…flattered that you need my help with anything and it is my job. I don’t know if it is the heat or just being here in New Orleans again but it’s been quite the adjustment for me. I usually show much more restraint.”
“No need to apologize. I can see why Lena kept you away from me so long.  You are completely and utterly…exquisite.”
I sipped from my vodka for liquid courage. “You are kidding, right? You share a bed with my sister every night and here you are, drooling after me as if you haven’t gotten laid in ages. I assumed that is what you were doing upstairs, keeping Sebastiaan and I waiting for such an indecent length of time.”
He smiled and it made his eyes glow, definitely a Sidhe trait. “Yes, I was getting my rocks off so to speak but you know what they say: ‘Show me a beautiful woman and I’ll show you a man who is tired of f*cking her’. Your sister and I have been together for eighteen months. To a vampire who is not in love, that is an eternity to f*ck the same old p*ssy. Not to mention she’s addicted to my blood so I have entered territory which is dangerous for both of us.”
My heart sank. I knew what this was and here was the threat laid out in front of me. I had to accompany Andreas to Europe or he would dump my sister on her ass. It was that cut and dried.
True, Lena was beautiful, but we both knew she had hit the jackpot with Andreas and she would never be so lucky ever again. I hated that my weakness was an older sister who should have been looking after me, but I was compelled to look after her. I couldn’t see that happen to her. If he would promise to keep his protection over my darling sister then I would do whatever it took.
“I know a veiled threat when I hear one, Andreas. If I don’t accompany you to Europe then you’ll toss my sister away like yesterday’s trash. I can’t afford for that to happen. I mean, I make enough money to take care of her but she won’t take my money and she’s self-destructive by nature—it’s par for the course for the offspring of a Sidhe and a shifter.”
“Perhaps.” He stood and walked over to me. His hands touched my neck in the most intimate way, soft as silk. “And what about you? Are you self destructive? I have to deal with Lena…I don’t want to have to deal with another personality like her.”
I whipped around to face him. “You should know by now my sister and I are nothing alike. Lena has always used her beauty to get what she wanted and I know I’m attractive but I don’t use it to my advantage. My skills have always kept me in demand. Even if I was butt-ugly, I would still be filthy rich because of my abilities and that suits me just fine.”
“Yes, I know. I didn’t realize being compared to your sister would make you so touchy.”
I finished my drink and set the glass on the cherry wood desk on the coaster provided. “Listen, I don’t mean to be rude, but now that I know this visit has nothing to do with my sister then please let me know where we are going and what I will be doing for you. I think it is only fair. Or am I overstepping some invisible line and being disrespectful to you? You’re the most powerful vampire in Louisiana so my intention is not to alienate you, believe me.”
Andreas knelt before me and his lips touched my neck. I found this highly erotic although I was appalled by his gall at the same time. I physically heard his fangs unsheathe in my ear and he ran his sharpened eye-teeth against my vein. “What I wouldn’t do to taste your blood…”

Hart Attack has arrived!!!

Well, now that I have decided to give away the store in the Summer Blog Hop to three lucky winners, I thought the rest of my readers needed something new. It gives me great pleasure to introduce my newest full length novel written as Elle Chardou (so please ignore any signs before that I would be writing it under my real name). I save that for all my books which only do mediocre in sales...lol...

All Romance
Amazon
Barnes & Noble (Processing)
Smashwords
Kobo (Publishing)
For all you gorgeous people who have no idea what it is about, here is the blurb:

Saints and Sinners
Beautiful, independent Angelika “Angie” Hart never needs a hand up. A skilled computer hacker, Angelika believes in making her own way. But when Angelika’s sister Lena invites her to vacation in New Orleans’ romantic, deadly French Quarter, Angelika descends into a dangerous new reality. In this decadent supernatural world, all that glitters is not gold. Among the gardens and graves, supernaturals reign supreme and even the worst sinner may wear a saint’s face.
Vampires and Werewolves
Inside her sumptuous antebellum mansion, Lena introduces Angelika to Andreas, the most powerful vampire in Louisiana, and Sebastiaan, the Lycan King of the North America. Handsome, rich and deadly, each man tempts Angelika in his own way. But when Lena is drawn into mortal peril, not even a vampire or a lycan can save the day. It’s up to Angelika to rescue her sister. And to do so, she must face up to family secrets, seizing the long-denied power that is her birthright.

If you are a fan of the HBO series, True Blood, you will love Hart Attack.

WARNING: This is paranormal romance novel with sexy good times, a couple of naughty Faerie-mortal shifter sisters, an Alpha Lycan King, a smokin’ hot vampire, blood, and explicit language. Gore and closed door sex scenes? Not in this book. (Novel Word Count: 90,007)

Now, I had a beautiful cover designed for me by Jack Wallen and there was nothing wrong with it but I wanted to redesign it and so the new cover has been designed by Tamra Westberry and what a beautiful cover it is. Don't get me wrong, Jack's cover was brilliant and for those who prefer his cover which is here:

I would be more than willing to supply a copy of this cover if you prefer it. It was a hard decision but I could definitely do two versions and see which one sells better but I have a feeling it would be no contest. Ms. Blanchard isn't hot and happening right now where as Elle Chardou is...plus, the writing in Hart Attack is more like Elle Chardou than Danielle Blanchard so it was definitely a strategic decision.

Anyway, like I always do with a new release, I will list the places the e-book is available. In the meantime, the only two places which are up and running are Smashwords and All Romance. Amazon and Kobo are in publishing status while Barnes & Noble is processing.

As I always do, I am running a $1 off sale on Amazon. For a limited time, the novel is available for $3.99 there while it is $4.99 everywhere else. As usual, it is DRM free so if you know how to work Calibre, you can still take advantage of the sale and convert it to what ever file type you need to read it on your e-reader.

In the meantime, happy Friday, enjoy and go buy my novel, damn it! I worked very hard! Lol!!!

Cover Changes...

Well, after the significant success of The Supernaturals series, I have been convinced that perhaps covers with couples sell better in the romance section than covers with just one person (unless that person happens to be a man with major man titty on display...those seem to sell well too but I might be biased due to all the JR Ward covers I have been subjected to)...

First and foremost, I am entirely grateful to Christine DeMaio-Rice and Jack Wallen, both of whom I have worked with exclusively for more than a year regarding my covers. Their work is so beautiful I have decided against changing the paperback novels and have focused completely on the e-books.

What series is this for? The one which has been a major pain in my backside for so long, I don't remember the last time it was fun to have this series other than writing it. Looking at the pitiful numbers it is selling and its chart position is well, beyond painful.

That would The Vamp Saga of course. If it was a crappy series, I would completely understand (and believe me, I have read more than my fair share of crap vampire series especially written by indies). No offense, but most lack imagination or want to make up their own rules, like vampires all the sudden having the ability to eat food (though they are dead and do not have working digestive systems) or they want them to have a heart beat (WTF? Yeah, I know...GenMods in my series have heart beats too but that is the point -- they are genetically modified vampires not the run of the mill kind which last time I checked did not have heartbeats since they are technically dead).

I have also read some great indie paranormal books but most of the time, they focus on vampire hunters, not vampires per se and that is what I thought was so unusual yet brilliant about my series. I have two more novels coming out this year and with the first two languishing in Amazon's 200ks while the prequel novella is all the way out in the 400ks doesn't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling where this series is concerned.

Most well known authors tell you to change the blurb (it has been done countless times with all the novels in the series), change the price (yeah, that has been done too), change the title (I brainstormed with a fellow writer friend and came up with more paranormal sounding titles) and change the covers (this is not so easy to do because I would have to pay someone and my funds are limited as a divorced mother with two children).

So, what did I do? I still managed to change the covers after I fooled around a bit and read a few tutorials and watched Youtube clips. So, instead of brandishing them all out at once, I have peppered them throughout this blog post.

Premieres in a September of 2012

P.S. Both Immortal Lair, The Vamp Saga Omnibus Collection and Queen of the Immortals, are collaborative efforts. Jack Wallen initially designed them but I needed the writing to match throughout the series so I added the men and changed the font therefore he has not lost credit and can still say he designed 90% of the cover and I just added 10% worth of changes.

P.P.S. After much thought and discussion from a host of author friends, I broke the cardinal rule. All novellas in The Supernaturals will be $2.99 and the Collection $3.99. It was already this way at certain e-book stores so I have done this across the board, including at Amazon. It is nothing against my readers and I respect their intelligence and their pocketbook but I believe these are quality novellas and as people are enjoying them immensely, I believe this what they are worth. Not because of word count or because I need to charge this much. I am talking about the entertainment value.

The Collections will always be $3.99 for those who want to wait and save $2. The Cloak of Darkness and The Supernatural Collection No. 2 will both appear in August so there is plenty of time to hold off. The first collection is already out and can be purchased at any time.

Thanks again and happy Tuesday!

Sunday Sample

Hello and happy Sunday! Today's Sunday Sample comes from Darkness Awakened. Enjoy!

Laurentine drove straight to the King’s home and for the first time, Jori’s palms began to feel clammy. He should have had a cigarette before he left but since the call from Amelie, he’d been living reckless enough lately. Too much booze and too many cigarettes left him with feeling of disorientation. He personally watched as a helpless bystander the life he could have had disintegrate. As much as he despised his self-destructive personality, he held on to the memories of a woman he once loved but alas had never been in love with because they were never meant to be together.

They arrived much too soon for his comfort but as soon as they pulled up to the front of the King’s mansion, Jori stepped out and followed Laurentine inside a mansion with a manservant, maids and endless priceless articles of furniture, art and keepsakes from another time and place.

His senses were alive with the smell of fresh flowers everywhere; the marble floors they walked on were spotless and his shit-kickers clicked slightly against the surface. The walls weren’t wallpapered but instead painted vivid colors. Deep blues, purples, gorgeous deep reds and serene greens; each section of the massive home had its own personality.

Laurentine brought him to a set of deep oak double doors. “This is the King’s study and he will see you in here.”

Jori met her lovely blue-gray eyes, the green crescents intoxicating him as his heart beat faster and he could feel his animal side near the surface. It felt wrong to refer to the animal within as a wolf when he could become any powerful being in the animal kingdom. He was a pureblood Lycan but certainly not one hundred percent werewolf.

“Aren’t you coming inside?” he inquired.

She tilted her head slightly as an eyebrow arched up and her lips pursed. “No, I don’t think the King wants me to be there while he speaks business with you.” Laurentine looked away from his face and slightly bowed her head. “I serve many purposes for the King but I am not his equal…no one is and ever will be.”

Jori grabbed her hands and held them in his own, his massive palms swallowing her small, slender pale hands. “I want you to be there. I can sense your anxiety and your nervousness. One of the purposes you serve for the King is as his mistress and perhaps I can rectify that situation for you today…now.”

Laurentine looked up. “I’m not his mistress—it is true, we have sex but I do not belong to him in that way. I am merely a means to an end. I scratch whatever it is of his that has an itch…do you understand?”

“Well, that ends today because if I am forming my own pack for the King then he will have to grant my wish of bringing a mate along. That woman shall be you.”

“Jori, don’t be absurd. You don’t even like me!”

He pulled her against him and covered her petite frame with his. He held her slender waist and looked her in the eyes. “I like you too much. I fear my fiancée knew there was someone else and that is why she broke it off. My mother told me herself we would never marry but I proposed anyway because I couldn’t understand how much my life would change in such a short period of time.

“Woman, I can’t stop thinking about you, wanting to touch you and wondering how it feels to be inside you, moving with you. The taste of your mouth and the smell of your skin, the silky feel of flesh against flesh—you cannot deny me.”

She opened her mouth to speak as the doors to the King’s study opened and there, in front of them, stood Sebastiaan.

Jori knew he would have a powerful aura but his presence exuded so much more than that. He was tall but Jori still had an inch or so over him. He bowed his head and murmured, “My King, you called for me and I am here to do your bidding.”

Sebastiaan smiled though the ice never left his cerulean blue eyes. “Come in and you can bring your mate with you—”

“Wait a minute? I’m not his mate!” Laurentine exclaimed as her face turned scarlet.

“You are what ever I say you are and as of this moment, Jori has chosen you as his mate. You should be happy to accept such an offer. He is an Omega and can have any woman he wants yet he chose you, some poor little mixed-breed who is only a quarter Lycan. You should get down and kiss his feet,” the King explained with little emotion in his voice though his tone suggested what ever their “arrangement” was before had officially ended at that moment.

Laurentine bowed her head again. “Yes, my King. If that is what you wish then…I will become Jori’s mate.”

Although his heart thundered in his chest, Jori’s demeanor didn’t show the nervousness or his complete surprise with the turn of events. He wanted Laurentine, that was true, but on his terms and certainly not because the King had demanded she become the equivalent of a “mail order bride”.

He slipped an arm around her waist to steady her and reassure her. The tautness in her shoulders relaxed and although she didn’t seem all that pleased, she no longer had the tension in her body that existed just moments before.

Jori would die before he wanted to ever be thought of as an uncontrollable, feral monster who kidnapped women and made them bow down to him. His mother, Grand-mère Poitier, was one of the strongest people he knew. He needed her wisdom and strength now more than ever. However, she had accompanied Jolie to Las Vegas for her meeting with the International Vampire Council and would be gone indefinitely or however long it took for vampires to negotiate.

They both sat across from the King on the sofa he appointed to them. The love seat purposely provided a snug fit between them but Laurentine had calmed down and he sensed her comfort despite their close proximity.

A maid interrupted with a large Baccarat crystal carafe of what looked like tea and three Baccarat glasses. She poured each of them something to drink and set the drinks on coasters before she left.

The magazine table was large and Jori reached for his glass and Laurentine’s which he immediately handed to her. She sipped, grimaced and drank down half the contents before balancing it between her delicate white hands and her exposed right knee.

The King drained half the contents of his glass in one swallow. “It’s nice to have something a bit stronger on the palate when it’s hot like this. Summer is just slippin’ through our fingers and soon it will be autumn but I do enjoy a nice Louisiana summer.”

Jori wondered how the King knew it was hot outside; the mansion’s thermostat couldn’t be set at anything higher than seventy degrees if not cooler. Although it was indeed hot and muggy outside, it felt chilly inside though not uncomfortably so. Like all Lycans, he ran hot and the cool air soothed his skin especially after the run he had taken which had lasted most of the day.

“It is beautiful here in the summer. I don’t travel much and haven’t been many places outside of St. Tammany or Orleans Parish but I suppose that will change once I become Alpha of the pack you wish me to form on your behalf?” Jori finally spoke in a deep, gravel voice that oozed sex appeal and feral heat.

“That is correct. I never have liked the number ‘three’, Jori. It seems uneven and the way your pack has treated you for simply being whom and what you are is an embarrassment. It makes us appear to be ignorant and small-minded.”

“We are no different than the vampires, your Highness. They have their caste system and we have ours. The Sidhe vampires are at the top of theirs—”

“And the Omegas should be at the top of ours, Jori,” the King interrupted. “You are the top of the Lycan food chain and there is no reason for your kind to stay wrapped behind the shadows. As a Lycan who is half-Sidhe, if anyone is familiar with a caste system then it is I.”

He finished his ice tea, stood and walked to the French doors. “I am telling you this because I know you and your mate will keep my genetic heritage a secret. I have always admired Omegas and thought them to be superior instead of inferior. There are others but you are by far the strongest; as your pack was rightfully taken from you by your brother, I am offering you your own piece of the pie: territory, Lycan males and start up costs. Laurentine will be your mate if you shall desire…or if you don’t, you have inherited an indentured servant.”

Darkness Awakened has arrived!

Hello and happy writer Wednesday!

Well, as you know, I promised Darkness Awakened would be released on Tuesday and it was...in some places. I am still waiting for it to be published on Amazon and Barnes & Noble but the sites it is available on now are listed below!

Amazon
Barnes & Noble
All Romance
Smashwords
Kobo

When Amazon and Barnes & Noble finally publish, I will update the buy links.

I am so excited and I really do hope people are enjoying this novella series even though it is a bit spicier than usual.

In other news, looks like Hart Attack: Book I from The Hart Family Saga will be released before the end of the month so that should satisfy my paranormal fans looking for a complete novel (and yes, at about 93k words, it is a complete work of fiction).

Okay, talk soon and happy Wednesday!

Good news...

Well, what can I say? I have been writing so much, I don't write on my blog as much as I should but this should make some of my fans happy (I hope). Darkness Awakened will be released Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Yeah, I know I said something about August...well, I lied. So...get ready...here is the cover reveal:

Nice and sexy, isn't it? I am releasing it for $1.49 and the following novella, Cloak of Darkness, will be $1.99, and premiere in August.

Okay, I can hear some people crying foul and wondering why The Dawn of Darkness costs more than the third novella in the series? Well, that's just the way it is and I release the anthologies in sets of two so I can't have the anthology cost more than the novellas individually (although The Supernaturals Collection #1 is a penny more than the novellas on Amazon only). Everywhere else, it is cheaper to buy the anthology than the novellas separately but if you think my Photoshop skills are so awesome, you want to invest in every cover, who am I to dissuade you?

In terms of the 99 cent sale of Darkness Rising on Amazon (DRM Free so even if you don't have a Kindle, if you can operate Calibre, you can change it to ePub or what ever else version you need), I am not sure how much longer I am going to keep it going but when it comes off sale, it will be $1.49. I am not greedy and I promise as these are shorter novellas (anywhere from 21k to 28k) then they will never be more than $1.99 as that is all someone should have to pay for such a saucy beach read. ;-)

In other news, for my contemporary romance fans who are dying for a good story that does NOT involve vampires, werewolves, ghosts, Faeries or any other supernatural characters, I do have a new novella series premiering in August and it will be released concurrently with The Supernaturals series.

It's called Superstar Marriages and so far I only have three novellas in the works but there may be more depending upon how popular it is. The first is called Lara & The City of Angels (it takes place mostly in Los Angeles, hence the title). There is a theme here...okay, I'll spill it! But after the cover reveal of Lara...

You likey? I thought you might...hehe... Oh, what was I saying? What's the gimmick? The series is about three sisters and the superstars they are married to so we are drifting back into The Beautiful People series territory but with an erotic romance twist. ;-)

The second in the series will be Jenna & The City of Light (Paris of course!!!) and the last will be Brittany & The City of Sin (Viva Las Vegas, baby!!!).

My editor is still working on Hart Attack: Book I from The Hart Family Saga (she's got a good excuse as her house was damaged severely in a tropical storm and her family's safety is more important to me than her editing my novels) so I have no control over when that one will be released. I really wanted it to come out this month but now it is looking like it won't be released until the first part of August. When I get the first round of edits back, I will let you know how severe it is and when it will approximately be released.

Okay, so that is all the news for now but I will definitely be in contact on Tuesday when the novella, Darkness Awakened, premieres. Until then, have a wonderful weekend and happy reading! ;-)

Independence Day & Release Day!

Are you ready?

So much to do and so little time.

I am working my buns off today as I have not one but two new releases coming out today. They will pretty much be instantly available at All Romance and Smashwords while Barnes & Noble usually works pretty fast and I wouldn't count on them showing to Amazon before tomorrow morning!

First, the second novella in The Supernatural series is premiering! Yay. It is the story of Jolie Gasquet and Sasha Galloway. For those who read Darkness Rising, their relationship was hinted at but this is their novella and how they got together in the first place.

The Dawn of Darkness is a bit longer, 28k in length, and it will be priced at $1.99. Here is the very sexy cover you will be looking for:

I have also decided to come out with the first collection in The Supernaturals series. It will be priced ar $2.99 and won't have any excerpts to any other novels/novellas. This one will also be located everywhere and here is the snazzy new cover for the collection:

Yeah, I used different photos but they are still the same smokin' hot stories and you get them both for one low price and over two hundred pages of summer reading.

I will post the links later as they start to filter in so no worries. In the mean time, have great day and happy reading!

P.S. Due to the storms in Maryland (where my wonderful editor resides), and the damage her home sustained, Hart Attack: Book I from The Hart Family Saga won't premiere until the end of this month which makes my novel schedule something of the following:

Hart Attack: Book I (The Hart Family Saga) - July, 2012
Queen of the Immortals: Book III (The Vamp Saga) - September of 2012
Love Voodoo: Book I (DeGeneration) - October of 2012
Immortal Dawn: Book IV (The Vamp Saga) - November 2012

In the meantime, I will continue to write my novellas and then next year, I will be more focused on novellas and less on novels but I expect to release no less than at least five novels next year so all is not lost completely. ;-)
